Why do home inspection prices seem so inconsistent?

From time to time our callers mention that our price is “the lowest”, sometimes they say it sounds high.  This seems to be the result of fluctuations in the real estate industry.  Whenever the market periodically slows down, some inspectors lower their prices.  Then, during busy seasons they raise their prices because the “market can bear the price increase.”
